Atopic dermatitis: a brief review of recent advances in management

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common inflammatory skin disorder characterised by recurrent eczematous lesions and intense itch. The affects people of all ages ethnicities, has substantial psychosocial impact on patients relatives, the leading cause global burden from disease. associated with an increased risk multiple comorbidities, including food allergy, asthma, allergic rhinitis, mental health disorders. pathophysiology complex involves strong genetic predisposition, epidermal dysfunction, T-cell driven inflammation. Although type-2 mechanisms are dominant, there increasing evidence that immune pathways. Until recently, management AD rested mainly judicious use emollients, topical steroids, calcineurin inhibitors in majority systemic immunosuppressants were advocated severely diseased. However, last few years, new therapeutic strategies designed developed to target various steps chain molecular events lead phenotype. This review highlights recent advancements AD.
